BROWN-SEQUARD SYNDROME


  1. The Brown-Sequard Syndrome causes signs and symptoms due to hemitransection of the spinal cord.

  2. The signs and symptoms can be explained by :
    • damage to segmental motoneurones
    • interruption of the lateral corticospinal tracts
    • interruption of dorsal column axons
    • interruption of lateral spinothalamic tracts and anterolateral system
