SYRINGOMYELIA


  1. Syringomyelia is caused by a pathological cystic Eexpansion of the central canal of the spinal cord called a Syrinx.

  2. The syrinx expands in different directions and interferes with sensory, motor and autonomic pathays passing between the brain and the spinal cord.

  3. The Syrinx occurs most commonly in the cervical segments of the spinal cord.
